Wartburg to Kick off 150th Anniversary Celebration at Fall Festival 2015
Wartburg will once again be hosting its historic Fall Festival on Saturday, October 3rd from 11 am to 5 pm on Wartburg’s Mt. Vernon campus. This is the second year reinstituting the Festival, which was held annually for decades until the early 2000s. The community welcomed its return last year and Wartburg plans to keep it going indefinitely.
This year’s Festival comes at time of celebration, as Wartburg turns 150 years old in the Fall of 2016. The Fall Festival is one of many special events going on as a part of the year-long anniversary celebration which will aim to educate the community about Wartburg’s programs, services and extensive history dating back to the days of caring for children orphaned by the Civil War.
“It’s an exciting time at Wartburg,” says Pastor Carol Fryer, Director of Spiritual Care and Church Relations at Wartburg. “It’s truly a pleasure to be able to offer such an exciting, family-friendly day to our community.”
Nearly 500 guests are expected to attend this year’s event. Again this year there will be craft vendors, information booths, regional food trucks, local art exhibitions, and musical performances throughout the day. There will also be a children’s activity area sponsored by The Future Society, raffles, and information about Wartburg’s history and services. And it’s all free!
“The excitement around our milestone anniversary is really growing,” says David Gentner, President and CEO of Wartburg. “This year’s Fall Festival will once again welcome the community onto our campus to celebrate our 150th anniversary and help to spread the word about our new initiatives in our continuum of care, including a new Outpatient Facility scheduled to open late Fall 2015 and the expansion of our Home Care services to the New York Metro area.”
The Fall Festival will be held rain or shine. Parking for guests and residents will be available on campus. For information about sponsorship and vendor opportunities, please contact Karen Thomas at 914-513-5308 or kthomas@wartburg.org.
