Baseball Day at Wartburg Hits a Home Run with Yankee Legend Willie Randolph and Current Star Oswaldo Cabrera
Mount Vernon, NY (September 25, 2025) – Wartburg proudly welcomed Burke Rehabilitation to its campus this week, celebrating the ribbon cutting of Burke’s newest outpatient facility in Mount Vernon. The state-of-the-art center marks a significant milestone in enhancing access to high-quality rehabilitative services for both Wartburg residents and the broader Mount Vernon community.
“Wartburg has always believed in the power of partnerships to strengthen the quality of life for those we serve,” said Dr. David Gentner, President and CEO of Wartburg. “We are grateful to Burke Rehabilitation for bringing their nationally recognized, patient-centered care to our campus. This collaboration ensures that our residents and neighbors have direct access to cutting-edge therapy services right here in Mount Vernon.”
The 3,500-square-foot facility, located in Wartburg’s Outpatient Building, includes an expansive therapy gym, private exam rooms, and treatment bays designed to provide one-on-one, personalized rehabilitation care. Once fully operational, the site is expected to serve approximately 15,000 patient visits annually and employ up to 10 therapists specializing in orthopedic and neurological recovery, among other diagnoses.
Speakers at the ribbon cutting included community leaders and healthcare executives, among them Philip O. Ozuah, MD, PhD, President and CEO of Montefiore Einstein; Ken Jenkins, Westchester County Executive; Shawyn Patterson-Howard, Mayor of Mount Vernon; and Danielle Browne, Mount Vernon City Council President. A citation was also presented by New York State Assemblyman Nader Sayegh in recognition of this important milestone.
For Wartburg, which has a proud history of delivering compassionate, holistic care for older adults and their families, the addition of Burke’s outpatient therapy site further enriches the continuum of care available on its 34-acre campus.
“This opening represents a powerful extension of Wartburg’s mission,” added Dr. Gentner. “Together with Burke, we are meeting people where they are in their recovery journey and ensuring that they have the resources, expertise, and encouragement they need to thrive.”
The Mount Vernon outpatient therapy site, located at 1 Wartburg Place, Outpatient Building, 1st Floor, will begin seeing patients in mid-October. It will be open Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and is fully accessible to the entire community.
