Under the direction of the VP of Development & Marketing , the Annual Fund Manager must have a strong commitment to Wartburg’s mission. This position will support, implement and manage key aspects of the annual fundraising plan, with major focus on Annual Giving Donor Cultivation/Stewardship, Planned Giving Management, Grant Writing and Revenue-Generating Programs and Events.
Job Description: Ideal candidate will:
•Maintain a proactive, creative leadership role in the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of annual gifts from individual, corporate and foundation sources.
•Coordinate all planned giving mailings, events and cultivation/stewardship of Passavant Society prospects and donors.
•Assist with renewal and prospect solicitations. Includes analysis of Raiser’s Edge database to determine the pool to be solicited, merging and personalizing letters, and preparing packets of promotional materials. Help coordinate and implement campaign upgrade requests and new solicitations.
•Develop/oversee annual mail solicitation campaign. Prepare and/or oversee all direct mail letters, annual reports, impact reports, case statements, marketing materials, and sponsorship proposals required to support fundraising efforts.
•Aid in finding new prospects.
•Manage logistics of donor stewardship calendar.
•Write letter templates for renewals, acknowledgements, donor proposals and other correspondence.
•Maintain electronic and hard copy donor files.
•Implement on-going personal/written/phone contact with annual donors/potential donors.
•Oversees record keeping/files/correspondence for all annual and planned giving donors.
•Prepare detailed reports about the fundraising progress to the President, Vice President of Development and Marketing, Development Committee of the Board of Directors on a regular basis.
•Coordinate an agenda, calendar, and gift report for team meetings.
•Assist in the preparation of annual fundraising plan in collaboration with the Vice President of Development and Marketing including stewardship calendar and donor outreach.
•Lead staff for all donor cultivation and stewardship events, including planned giving, providing organization, production and maintenance of annual campaign materials and data, coordination of all special event committees and volunteers.
•Research, draft and submit funding proposals to public/private foundations, corporations and government.
•Oversee/report monthly status of annual campaign operational budget to Vice President of Development and Marketing.
•Implement an annual recognition event for annual campaign donors/volunteers, incorporating appropriate staff.
•Manage system for securing in-kind donations.
•Prepare and publish Annual Report in collaboration with CFO and Vice President of Development and Marketing.
•Acts as a spokesperson at public speaking events to include check presentations, outside events, informational talks etc.
•Performs other duties as assigned
•Bachelor’s degree is required
•2 to 3 years of event planning experience
•5-7 years of fundraising experience is preferred
•Experience in successfully closing annual gifts between $1,000-$10,000 is preferred
•Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge a plus
•Supervisory experience a plus
•1 to 2 years of grant writing experience is a plus
•Extremely detail oriented
•Strong strategic and critical thinking skills with long-term planning skills
•Must have strong writing and verbal communications skills
•Strong leadership skills, self-motivated, results driven and a team player.
•Exceptional organizational skills; ability to prioritize and work independently
•Bi-Lingual is a plus.
•Background check, as required or permitted by applicable law.
Days and Hours: Monday – Friday; 9am – 5pm: With some special event hours as needed .
