“We understand that family life can be hectic. Here, we have the time to spend with our seniors, to listen to their stories. They’re part of my family now.
“Seeing them in the morning really makes my day. I really do love my job. I’m part of a team that plans all the daily activities for the Adult Day program. We are always looking for new things for them to do that are interesting and stimulating – from covering current events to adaptive sports and games. I also started a sewing and quilting group. We made quilts, hats and bags. They really enjoy arts and crafts.
“We also visit patients at the Nursing Home, which is where I started my career at Wartburg. I bring about eight to ten Adult Day attendees. They say we are going to visit my ‘friends’ – and they’re right.
“I tell my family not to worry about putting me in a nursing home. I know the care at Wartburg is great. I love this place. It’s my second home.”
